Entry-Level Civil Engineer EIT - Drainage, Stormwater & Utilities

Miller Gray is a locally owned, growing civil engineering firm based in Austin, and we are looking for an entry-level Civil Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent college graduate or early-career engineer who wants hands-on experience, strong mentorship, and the chance to grow with a small firm that is deeply rooted in Central Texas.

Our work focuses primarily on public infrastructure projects for municipalities and counties across Central Texas, with an emphasis on hydraulics and hydrology, stormwater management, drainage, flood control, and water quality. This role will also include opportunities to support water, wastewater, and utility/pipeline design projects, allowing you to build a broad and valuable technical foundation early in your career.

What You’ll Do

  • Support engineering analyses and design for stormwater, drainage, flood control, and water quality projects
  • Assist with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for public infrastructure improvements
  • Contribute to utility and pipeline design for water and wastewater projects
  • Help prepare construction documents, including plans, details, specifications, quantity calculations, and cost estimates
  • Work on a variety of municipal and public works projects across Central Texas
  • Collaborate closely with senior engineers and project managers in a highly mentored environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • EIT certification (preferred) or ability to obtain it soon after hire
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with or coursework in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater, or water resources
  • Experience with or exposure to software such as:
    • HEC-RAS
    • HEC-HMS
    • AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • GIS / ArcGIS
    • StormCAD or other water resources modeling tools
  • Experience with MicroStation is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
  • A collaborative attitude and desire to grow as part of a team
